Port Royal Habitation - 1605. The drawing shows many interesting features, including the dyke along the river bank to protect the crop field, freshly cut lumber, stumps yet to be cleared, a cemetary just outside the walls with its huge crucifix...many died in the first years... life was hard. Note also the design of the habitation with its inner courtyard.
